Rains, hail after Rocky weekend

THE Valley braced under widespread hail over the weekend but recent rainfall has brought a welcome end to an extended dry season.

Between 3pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday the Bureau of Meteorology station at Grafton Airport recorded 28mm of rainfall.

Yamba was the wettest location in the Valley receiving 34mm.

To the south the Pillar Valley station missed a lot of the precipitation with just 13mm.

And the Minnie Water Pump Station stayed pretty much dry getting just four millimetres while the Wooli Station, just down the road, got 17mm.

More showers are predicted today with some forecasts predicting as much as 25mm of rain.

But conditions are expected to dry up as the week wears on.
