Rebels fall to Sawtell Panthers in Group 2; Ghosts win

SOUTH Grafton Rebels have gone down swinging to Sawtell Panthers in their second round Group 2 clash.

The Rebels were keen to prove last week's poor 40-18 loss to Woolgoolga Seahorses was a one-off performance, but the Panthers proved too strong in front of their home fans for the first time this season, winning 50-22.

Grafton Ghosts led Woolgoolga 22-6 at half time, with a Mitch Lollback hat trick leading the side to an eventual 42-6 win.

Coffs Comets, who will host the Ghosts in next week's blockbuster, cruised to a 48-18 win over Macksville Sea Eagles.

Bellingen Magpies comfortably beat Orara Valley Axemen 28-6 in the other game.

The Axemen have formally withdrawn their under-18s team from the competition citing a lack of numbers.
