Refund brightens Toowoomba man's Super Bowl nightmare

THE disappointment of a failed Super Bowl trip has been brightened by a generous refund.

Toowoomba NFL fan Jonathon Hogan flew to the US last week to see his beloved New England Patriots play the Seattle Seahawks in the massive sporting event.

A story in Tuesday's Chronicle detailed his heartbreak at being told just 24 hours before Monday's game that the $4200 ticket he had bought did not exist.

A representative of ticket company TicketCity contacted The Chronicle on Tuesday to say the business had secured Mr Hogan a ticket on the day of the game after initially failing to get him the ticket he had ordered.

NIGHTMARE: Toowoomba man's Super Bowl dream in tatters

"My older brother called them in frustration asking what happened. That was about five minutes after the game had started," Mr Hogan said.

"They said to him that a guy was passing by them that had a spare ticket he could sell me."

He said his brother relayed the message to him.

"I called them from the hotel about 10 minutes after and they said the guy didn't want to wait for me and left.

"So that was a giant tease if anything."

However, he said the company had shown remorse for the bungle and had backed that up by refunding the cost of his ticket as well as a further $2000 for travel expenses.

"The company handled the refund very professionally. I'm not too mad at them now, just feeling gutted and disappointed."

He was looking forward to taking up an offer from the Toowoomba Clydesdales for free hospitality in the corporate section of Saturday night's NRL trial match.

"I appreciate the offer for the Warriors game more then anything.

"I have been a diehard Warriors fan my whole life so this is just perfect to come home to."
