Registered sex offender crack down

THIRTEEN registered sex offenders have been charged with breaching their reporting conditions during a major police sting in NSW.

For the first time, police joined forces with corrective services officers this week to monitor registered offenders with a focus on checking electronic equipment owned by those convicted of possessing child abuse material.

As a result, 18 breaches were detected and 13 offenders hit with court notices.

A further two men, aged 57 and 22, were arrested at Newcastle on Thursday and refused bail.
