Rescue boat back in water
YAMBA Marine Rescue Unit's state of the art vessel is back in the water and ready for action.
"Iluka Yamba Three Zero"; the Steber-built search and rescue vessel operated by the Iluka Yamba Marine Rescue Unit, has been returned to the Clarence River following modifications and repairs carried out by the vessels manufacturer in Taree.
No time was lost by the volunteer unit in commencing boat training on Saturday morning after the return of "IY 30" late Friday afternoon.
Modifications to the rescue vessel included additional fuel filters, improvements to instrument lighting and search lights remotely controlled from the cabin.
Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba Unit Headquarters and Radio Base are located at Iluka, with IY30 being based at Yamba.
The radio base guards Marine Safety Channels VHF Channel 16 and 27 MHz band Channel 88 on a 24-hour basis. Marine Rescue encourages all skippers to 'log on' to the base for a no cost safety watch over their boating activities.
