Reunion down by the river

IN a couple of weeks, this riverside home will be transformed into the venue for a Grafton High School fundraising reunion.

The reunion, which will take place at 1 Queen St — the home of Geoff and Joyce Betts, was part of the program to raise funds to support projects and events to mark Grafton High School’s centenary in 2012.

The school is steeped in history and was established a year after the currently used system of public secondary education was introduced. It was the only public high school north or north-west of Newcastle and was one of the first state country high schools. Grafton High was also one of only 10 public high schools

The reunion will take place on March 19. Drinks and nibbles will be served from 5-7pm and tickets are $35 each.

Tickets should be purchased before March 14, for catering purposes, from Grafton High School or Harvey’s Jewellers in Prince Street, Grafton.
