Revved up for motocross season
ROUND 1 of the South Grafton Ex-Services Motorcycle Club Motocross Championships roars into action today at Gnudwoc Park Raceway.
The club is set for a massive year of racing. Along with the Club Championship, there is the Northern NSW interclub challenge mid year and the Open Northcoast Series that involves clubs from Cessnock to Moree.
The track is in prime condition after recent rain and the club is expecting 80 riders to make for a great day's racing.
Classes will cater for juniors from four years on their 50cc machines through to the under-16 years on 125cc two-stroke or 250cc four-strokes.
All junior riders will need a logbook and/or licence to compete. Senior classes will be run from the Senior Lites class to the ever popular over-35 years.
All classes will have three rounds of competition and a social class will be running for senior riders who would like to experience the thrill of motocross without being competitive.
Sign on and scrutineering on Sunday will start at 7am and finish at 8am.
Practice will then follow with the dirt flying when riders take to the track for the first round of racing at approximately 10am.
Admission to Gnudwoc Park at Old Lillypool Road, South Grafton is free and there are plenty of great spectator viewing areas with most of the track being clearly visible from all points around the track.
The canteen will be operating all day with hot food and cold drinks.
The club welcomes all new members and spectators who are interested in being involved in this exciting sport.
The next event on the club calendar is Round 2 on March 29.
