Rewards for a volunteer

SHIRLEY Graham is an active member of the Grafton city community and the Grafton Anglican Church.

We caught up with Shirley while she was volunteering at the Anglican Church's Opportunity Shop.

As well as being regular fixture at the shop, Shirley also serves as the church dean's verger once a month and helps out in the church office one morning a month.

“It's very rewarding to help the church and be so involved in the community,” Shirley said.

As well as all her work with the church, Shirley enjoys travelling and has made her way around the country by coach and can't wait to go on her next trip to the Murray in November.

Shirley also finds time to play social tennis on a Thursday morning and has thoroughly enjoyed watching the Australian Open, especially Jelena Dokic's matches.

“She did really well and has ended up coming out on top, despite what she has been through in her younger days,” Shirley said.
