RFS: the Valley’s Fires under control

RFS Inspector Brian Williams says things are looking rosy for the weekend with cooler weather expected.

Insp Williams said apart from one new fire, just west of Dundurrabin, the other eight blazes in the Valley were under control.

He said the efforts of the Tyringham Brigade had worked continuously for the past six days.

"So they've worked very hard for their community and we'll hopefully be able to send some new crews from other parts of the Valley to help them out," Insp Williams said.

"And possibly a dozer to cut in a containment line."

Insp Williams also said an RFS aircraft had mapped the fires in the Clarence Valley.

"And it's given us a good idea of what we've got," he said.

Higher temperatures are forecast for the weekend but Insp Williams was confident the situation would be controlled.
