Confirmed: Rivers comes running back to Grafton
GRAFTON Shoppingworld centre manager Greg Hayes has confirmed that Rivers is making its return to Grafton, and will take up 400 sq m of prime retail space.
"We are very excited to have Rivers back in town," Mr Hayes said.
The new Rivers store in Grafton will be one of the new concept stores to open in Australia.
"It's not their discount store, so Grafton will have something not many places will have, so we are very happy with it," Mr Hayes said.
Mr Hayes said he hopes to have Rivers open to trading by late September.
"There's a bit of work to be done, and there will be more information to follow," he said.
The Rivers clothing chain was acquired by Australia's largest women's fashion retailer, Specialty Fashion Group, in November 2013, and is currently undergoing a re-branding phase, moving away from the bargain basement image.
In a press release made earlier this year, Specialty Fashion Group said stock inventories that were acquired in the purchase of Rivers have been cleared out and replaced with new ranges, which has received a strong customer response.
Specialty Fashion Group CEO Gary Perlstein said the improved performance from Rivers, on the back of increased online sales and the opening of a concept store in Watergardens Shopping Centre, has been encouraging.
"We are on track with the transformation of this iconic brand," he said.
"There is hard work still to go, but the worst is now behind us."
Specialty Fashion Group also owns the Katies and Millers chains, and boasts more than 1000 stores across its retail stores.
