Candidate profile: Rod Morrison
ROD Morrison has operated as a community volunteer over many years, giving his time to advocate for community issues, at times serving on four community committees at once: from management of a community hall, scout group, community association and war memorial committee.
Last year Rod was recommended by his peers for the OAM for services to the community.
Rod currently donates his time on behalf of the Salvation Army to take paid trekkers and sponsored youth across the Kokoda Track, acting as the guide and historia, providing many Australians with a journey of a lifetime and remembrance.
All funds raised then go es to the Salvos' Aid program.
Rod is a decorated returned serviceman with acknowledgments from the chief of army, prime minister, minister for veterans affairs and federal member.
Rod has also been awarded the Infantry Combat Badge awarded for 90 days consecutive service in a combat zone.
ROD has a simple platform and is not politically motivated.
Once elected Rod will continue to provide a pro-active service to all members of the community, to enhance their quality of life. Support growth and security in the Valley through business development and tourism.
Rod wants to Pursue the initial agenda of past governments and complete the flood mitigation obligations that were highlighted to provide a benefit to all members of the community.
Rod will support all practical initiatives that provide a benefit to youth, the unemployed and elderly
Rod will never make uninformed decisions that will have an effect on people's lives and will always make sure he is well-informed on any matter prior to a vote.
Rod seeks to preserve the environment, protect its flora and fauna while st seeking a practical compromise regarding human impact and climate change.
