Rower makes Cup team

CONGRATULATIONS to Brendan Fischer on his selection as a member of the Queensland rowing team to compete in the Australian Youth Cup Regatta in July.

This regatta features rowers from the Australian states and territories as well as New Zealand and is an important development opportunity for them in their quest for international selection.

Throughout his high school years, Brendan rowed for the Lower Clarence Rowing Club (LCRC) and Maclean High.  He has also been part of the North Coast Academy of Sport for the past several years and is keen to acknowledge the guidance and specialist training programs provided by his LCRC coach Harold Kratz and academy coach John Kincade.

Brendan is studying at Griffith University and rowing with Commercial Rowing Club in Brisbane.

He is balancing study, work and training in a busy schedule that begins each day at 4am.

As a new member of the Commercial Rowing Club, Brendan's rowing history was unknown and some young Queensland rowers, who may have been confident of selection, were surprised by Brendan's ability.

At the Youth Cup regatta Brendan will meet up with his North Coast Academy team-mates from the Clarence Valley, Johanna Tarrant, Sarah Jones and Cameron Kitcher, of Grafton, who have been selected for the NSW Youth Cup team.

Lower Clarence Rowing Club congratulates these young rowers on their achievement and wishes them good luck at the Regatta.
