Rowers reap royal rewards at regional rowing regatta

ROWING: Lower Clarence rowers finished the local season on a high at the Sth Grafton/Iluka regatta.

The club won the Northern Rivers Rowing Association Club Point Score trophy, Open Points Score trophy and club member Candice Jagoe won the Women's Master Single Points Score trophy. A great result and congratulations to all rowers and coaches.

The junior rowers have improved this season.

It was very exciting to see Lachlan Maxwell win his first single scull in the MU15.

Also winning their single scull races were David Hailes (Masters), Candice Jagoe (Masters) and Gemma Dane (Open).

Gemma had a successful day winning the WO and Whcp doubles with Chianna Dane and also the WO quad with Chianna, Candice and Leah Domain (Coffs).

Elissa Metcalfe, Kirilly Maxwell, Stephanie Hutton and Clara Samms had a win in the WU 15/16 quad.

Clara and Stephanie finished 2nd in the WU15/16 double following on from the NSW State Championships last month where they finished 7th.

In their respective doubles David Hailes/Clare Millist, Angus Cassidy/Dean Bolton and Dean/Logan Bolton all came second.

A big thank you to Joy Hailes for all her work during the season as a Boat Race Official and keeping us all safe.

A special thank you to our sponsors especially Mareeba Aged Care and Maclean Lower Clarence Service Club for their on going support.

None of this would happen without the dedication of time and organisation from our coaches, Keryn Saunders, Betty Bogdanek, Harold Kratz and Clare Millist so thank you all very much from the rowers and parents.
