Rugby goes to the dogs

FOUR more heats of the Grafton to Lismore series over 407 metres and three heats of the Blue Paws maiden series also over 407 metres will highlight today’s Grafton greyhounds meetings, with the Grafton Redmen rugby club the special guests.

Heat 1 of the Grafton to Lismore series has been named after the Redmen’s 1969 coach Andrew Pollack and this looks to be a nice race for Shabro Augusto to make it two wins in a row at this track after doing the right thing by punters last week when recording a speedy 23.13 second victory.

The 1969 Captain Stan Pitkin heat 2 is a tough affair on paper with all runners having realistic hopes of taking the prize. The box draw has thrown this race right open with arguably the best greyhound in the race, Always Tomorrow, drawing poorly out in box 7.

All eyes will be on Young Mr Grace in the 1969 President Dick Roberts heat 3 following his dazzling 22.90 race victory here last week.
