RUGBY LEAGUE: Ghostly Gladiators ready to rip in to Group 3

RUGBY LEAGUE: Grafton Ghosts will be well represented when the Group 2 Gladiators take the field in Taree today.

Ghosts' leader off the park Ben McLennan will captain the representative side under the guidance of head coach Steve Carter.

While the potent left edge attack of the Ghosts, Dylan Collett and Mitch Gorman will look to continue their early season dominance in Gladiators colours.

While it is not the first time Collett has pulled on a Gladiators' jersey it is a big step up for the young Ghost only in his second full year of first grade.

"I was in the under 18s rep side last year," Collett said. "But to go straight into the first grade one this year that is pretty big.

"It is pretty good to be in the side with Gormo and Benny. They will make it a lot easier because I know how they play.

"I have honestly been working my arse off all pre-season but to get here I didn't expect this."

Gorman will line up for his first game of representative rugby league at senior level but said he will go into it just like a regular Group 2 game.

"I'll just stay off the beers," he laughed. "Nah, I don't get too carried away.

"I try not to think about it too much and just turn up on the day to do my job."

Gorman said the wisdom passed on by his captain McLennan, who is no stranger to representative duties, was invaluable.

"Benny has been around the rep scene a bit in recent years," he said. "His knowledge helps us younger ones prepare for the contest."

McLennan said while there had not been a lot of time in camp he has tried to glean as much as he could from coach Carter.

"It is definitely handy having his experience in the camp," McLennan said. "I love listening to everyone, he has good ideas that I will take on board."

The Group 3 side have had the wood over the Gladiators in recent years but if our Ghosts' get their way that changes today.

The match kicks off today at 2pm at Jack Neal Oval.
