Sailing cool for cats in Christmas regatta

MORE than 40 sailors engaged in the Clarence River Yacht Club's Christmas Regatta at the weekend.

Sailors from Brisbane, Toowoomba, Lismore and Harwood joined local competitors for the two-day event on the Ulmarra Strait.

A Class cats made a great spectacle with the sailors also competing in the A Class Travellers Series.

Andrew Landenberger finished first ahead of Andrew Chaney with Lou Zylstra third in the large catamaran event.

For the "Cool Cats", Dave Bower, Norm Hunt and Jacqueline Heap from Richmond River Sailing filled the podium places.

Visiting sailors Adrian Fawcett, Frank O'Rooke and Garry Powell took the prizes in Arrow Cat division.

Monohull winners were Mark Mulligan, Brian Wright and James Haker. Trailer Yacht winners Bob Engwirda, Jim O'Keefe and Col Henwood. All sailed Spider 550 sports boats.
