Theatre almost ready to roll

LIKE the curtains rising at the premiere of a Hollywood blockbuster, the boarding covering the Saraton Theatre construction site has been removed, with the first screening expected in early September.

Owners of the iconic heritage-listed building, Angleo and Spiro Notaras were on site yesterday inspecting the progress on their pride and joy.

Keeping tight-lipped on the cost of the expansion and refurbishment, Spiro said work was on target for Clarence Valley movie-lovers to walk through the doors in a matter of weeks.

“The new projection and sound equipment is working and we have been running a few trailers to test it out,” he said.

The three-cinema architectural masterpiece features two 150-seat 3D theatres and the showpiece, a two level 1000-seat auditorium.

While everyone in Grafton awaits a taste of the state of the art projection and sound equipment, Spiro said they would not have to wait much longer.

“There will be a big announcement at the end of the week,” he said.
