Man dies in second highway crash in one day

9.00PM: A MAN has died after a collision between a truck and a sedan tonight.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Hwy at Halfway Creek in between Coffs Harbour and Grafton about 6.30pm

The male driver, and sole occupant of the sedan, died at the scene.

The truck driver has been taken to Grafton Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

The Pacific Hwy is expected to be closed for a number of hours to allow inquiries to be carried out at the scene.

7.45PM: THE Pacific Hwy is closed in both directions at Kungala Road in Halfway Creek, about 32km south of Grafton, due to a serious accident involving a car and truck.

Earlier today, the highway was closed at Shark Creek after another crash involving a car and truck in which a woman was seriously injured. It reopened just a few hours earlier.

Motorists wanting to travel between Coffs Harbour and Grafton can use Coramba Road and Orara Way via Nana Glen.

Heavy vehicles are advised to avoid the area and use the New England Highway instead.

Both of these routes will add considerable time to journeys.

Emergency services and RMS crews are at the scene.

Motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time.
