Second win for Contador on Tour

JUST a little over a month after his two-year doping ban came to an end, Spaniard Alberto Contador has pedalled his way to his second Tour of Spain title.

The Saxo-Bank rider crossed the finish line 54th in the 21st and final stage, a 115km ride from Cercedilla to Madrid to claim overall victory.

Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) completed an all-Spanish trifecta after three weeks of racing over 3300 km.

Valverde finished 1 minute and 16 seconds behind Contador, while Rodriguez, who had led the Tour for 13 stages, was a further 21seconds adrift.

Simon Clarke enjoyed a Grand Tour debut to remember after becoming only the second Aussie to win the climber's jersey in a Grand Tour.

Riding for the Australian-owned Orica-GreenEDGE team, the Victorian won the fourth stage of the Tour to take the polka dot jersey, was overtaken after stage eight, but fought back to regain the jersey after stage 14 .

The 26-year-old also won the most aggressive rider award for stage 20.
