Sell-out to see off Black Caviar

SUPERSTAR Black Caviar has been listed a $1.04 favourite to win what is scheduled to be her final race in Australia before heading to England to tackle the best in the world.

The champion mare will shoot for her 21st consecutive win in Saturday's $500,000 Goodwood Handicap over 1200m at Morphettville.

But in an interview with a journalist from UK-based At The Races, trainer Peter Moody said the Australasian record holder was no certainty to start in England.

"You have never seen anything like this horse before," Moody said. "But if I take her all the way over there and she is not right, I won't run her for the sake of running."

Moody also took offence at the inference Black Caviar was beating second-rate opposition in Australia and may even get beaten in next month's Group One Diamond Jubilee Stakes over 1200m at Royal Ascot.

The English journalist suggested to be labelled the best in the world the mare had to win overseas, asking Moody if it would be "a massive blow" if she tasted defeat in England.

"It would be an absolute tragedy if she went there and got beaten by your B-grade sprinters, for half the prizemoney and (travelling) three-quarters of the way around the world," Moody said. "I will take all endeavours to make sure it won't happen."

It would also be a tragedy if Black Caviar was beaten on Saturday.

Another sell-out crowd of more than 30,000 is expected in Adelaide, with the AFL even changing the starting time of the nearby Crows versus Geelong match to ensure people can see both events.

That game will now start at 12.45pm with the Goodwood Handicap field to face the starter at 4.20 (SA time).

The targets for Black Caviar after Saturday are the Group One Diamond Jubilee Stakes over 1200m at Royal Ascot on June 23, and the Group One July Cup over 1200m at Newmarket on July 14.

Moody has then pencilled in a return to Australia for possibly the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley and Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington during the Spring carnival, before another possible overseas trip for the Group One Hong Kong Sprint in December.
