THE Jacaranda Senior Queen candidates' fundraising is in full swing with kids' parties, cocktail nights, Mr Jacaranda Competition and much more.

The changes the Jacaranda Festival organising committee have made this year are proving successful. A switch to group fundraising for the candidates has minimised stress, making planning the events a joy, and teaching participants life skills.

The girls are learning how to plan an event, prepare and read a profit and loss statement, how to strike up conversations professionally and how to speak to a large crowd of people. Their confidence is growing each and every week.

The candidates are now meeting weekly and will soon train in deportment and colour/make-up to prepare for the Jacaranda season, ensuring the girls are presenting their best. These are generously provided by Mrs Debbie Bowling and Joelle Webber.

Mrs Carol Smith has been announced as the 2016 Matron of Honour, joining the girls throughout their Jacaranda journey. Carol assists the girls where possible when they are holding their individual events and attends the weekly meetings as well, providing nurturing advice where needed.

As always there are several dedicated sponsors to assist the girls where possible. Shannon Carter is co-sponsored by Cranes and Toast, Sharni Wren is co-sponsored by BCU and Kylies Hockey Club, and Heidi Madsen is sponsored by Lasting Impressions.

Without the help of the businesses that become involved the 2016 festival would not be possible.

Look out for the girls' fundraising over the coming months. They would love if you stopped by for a chat and supported their events.

Check out the Jacaranda Festival website for all of the girls' planned events.
