Seven gone as Lions trim down for trade time

AFL: The Brisbane Lions have wasted no time preparing space on their roster for the coming trade period, delisting seven players just two days after finishing the season in 15th place on the ladder with seven wins and 15 losses.

Senior players Jordan Lisle, Andrew Raines, James Polkinghorne and Patrick Weardon, and rookies Nicholas Hayes, Sam Michael and Isaac Conway have been told their time was up.

Raines, who has played 123 AFL games for Richmond and the Lions, indicated last week he wanted to continue his career at another club.

Brisbane's first selection in November's national draft is pick No.4.

St Kilda has also reacted to its first wooden spoon since 2000, delisting veterans Clinton Jones and James Gwilt. Former captain Lenny Hayes also played his last game for the club against Adelaide on Sunday, retiring after 297 matches.
