Seven indoor plants even you can't kill

IF KEEPING plants alive isn't your strong point, but you need some more greenery in your life, then this will be the best thing you've read all year.

We caught up with the experts at Hoselink to find out the top seven indoor house plants even you can't kill.

Aloe: Aloe is so on trend right now, as are its succulent cousins. This plant is super low maintenance; just some indirect light and a fortnightly water.

Spider plant: This plant looks great on a shelf or table and brings the tropics inside. It likes a well-lit spot and only needs to be watered once a week.

Peace lily: Super elegant, the Peace lily is always a crowd pleaser. It can grow 30-180cm tall, so be sure to check the size before you buy one. The bonus with this plant is it filters toxins in the air.

Calathea: Also known as the peacock plant, this beautiful plant's foliage is a combination of green, pink, purple and red. It likes indirect light and to be watered twice a week.

Phalaenopsis orchid: Native to Queensland and tropical Asia, this plant is simply stunning and makes a perfect addition to a coffee table, dining table or on top of a chest of drawers. It likes low light and a drink twice a week.

Mother-in-law's tongue: As sharp as its name, this tough cookie is near impossible to kill - even for the worst gardener. The plant has long pointy leaves and can go a month without being watered, but it's recommended to water it once a fortnight.

Cactus: If it can survive in the desert, it can survive in your home - surely! There are several types of cactuses to suit your every look, and most like direct sunlight and watering once a fortnight.
