She was seeing double

ULMARRA'S Kay Bailey was delighted when she opened up The Daily Examiner on May 24 and saw a photo of her grandson Rocky Carter. But delight turned to shock when she turned a few more pages.

By pure coincidence, there was a photo of her mother in the regular DEX Monday historical photo section, it was taken in about 1927.

Mrs Bailey said she couldn't believe there was a picture of her mother, Gloria Fisher, about the same age as Rocky in the paper on the same day, she didn't even know the photo existed.

The photo was taken at the Nymboida School where Gloria's father was the principal before he was transferred to North Dorrigo.

Gloria died just a month before, just before her 88th birthday.

"It was fantastic for me to see it," Mrs Bailey said.

Rocky's mum Elissa Carter was just as surprised and delighted by the coincidence.

"She died less than a month ago on the 23rd April (aged 87) and has been sending us messages ever since. Is appearing randomly in the paper on the same day and at the same age as her great grandson another one?" she said.

The photos were brought in by a member of the public and Mrs Bailey would love to see any with her mother or her grandfather Bill Fisher.
