She’s got the look: Teen model wins in global comp

IT MIGHT seem daunting but to Gladstone's Claire Suggett, modelling is second nature.

The 18-year-old recently took out first place in US magazine Surreal Beauty's Winner of the People's Choice Cover model competition.

Her prize, a front-page cover shoot and a six-page spread inside the US magazine Surreal Beauty in upcoming weeks.

"It was pretty shocking to actually win," Ms Suggett said.

"I only started modelling this year; it was my first international competition."

Ms Suggett juggles the beginning of her modelling career, while working at the McDonald's Boyne Island.

"I'm also hoping to start doing an acrylic nail course soon, so it's going to get busy," she said.

"But with modelling I'm open to anything and everything.

"I enjoy it all and I think it would be good to have more experience.

"The shoots for Surreal Beauty were so fun, transitioning from a princess to a deer and then shooting as a dark witch in the pouring rain - I loved it."

Behind the photo shoot came the people who put it together; Mobbs Productions'Sonia Mobbs took the photographs, Sarah Jaenke from Ess Jay Makeup Artist did Claire's makeup and Rebecca Noy from Ribbon and Lace Off and Racing designed and created the floral headpieces.

The group of local woman have worked together in a previous feature for the Surreal Beauty magazine with winning results.

"The theme of this shoot was Fallen Princess - so we were looking for that traditional princess type look and put a twist on it," Ms Noy said.

"Claire fit that look and theme perfectly," she said.

"The shoot was a lot of fun, and it was very exciting to win internationally too."
