Shops, golf, fishing: life beautiful for JK

WITH so many familiar faces around the Valley, it is not a surprise that a Daily Examiner veteran, known in the office as JK, was out and about.

John Kenny worked at The Examiner for a total of 52 years and at the time was the longest serving APN employee when he retired in 2002.

Now that he doesn't have to turn up to The Examiner office every day, he has time to enjoy the finer things in life.

“I'll fish for anything that bites and prefer to fish from a boat or the beach,” John said.

He loves to cook up a catch of blackfish, flathead and whiting.

He is also a keen golfer, managing to get out and play a round a couple of times a week.

“I'm playing badly and in desperate need of a lesson,” he said.

We caught up with him while he was sitting on one of the many 'husband' seats located around Grafton Shoppingworld.

“Just waiting for my lovely wife, who loves to shop. Good thing I'm unusually patient,” John said with a smile.
