Show and Shine a success

THE Show and Shine Grafton 2013 event has been guaranteed a place in next year's calendar.

Organiser Todd Pearson said the event aimed to raise money for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, but expectations were far exceeded.

"It turned out to be massive - we pretty much saturated the showground with cars, motorbikes and displays.

"We had an inkling it would be big - there was a lot of talk and a buzz about before the event - but I was blown away by how many people came through the gates," Mr Pearson said.

At the event, 121 cars and 32 motorcycles rolled into the Grafton Showgrounds on November 2.

It was the second year the event has been run, and Mr Pearson said the positive response meant the show and shine would be back again next year.

"It's a permanent fixture now," he said.

Last year the event raised $1350 for the service.

This year Mr Pearson was able to hand over a cheque for more than $1900 to the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

"It was a fantastic feeling… It made me feel really proud," he said.

"The chopper is a resource we need here and we need to keep that service going."
