Show local radio station a little lovin’

VOLUNTEER radio announcer Phil Nicholas is calling on the community to show a little tender loving care for a radio station that virtually runs on the smell of an oily rag.

This Sunday will see the launch of a week-long subscriber drive for TLC FM, with an outdoor broadcast planned for the Yamba River Markets.

"Membership at TLC is really strong at the moment," Mr Nicholas said.

"We have a lot of passionate volunteers, now we're asking the community to 'show us your TLC'.

"We have bills to pay and every dollar we raise will help the station to keep going."

He said while TLC was enjoying a lot of support from local businesses, he hoped individual listeners would see subscription as a chance to back the station.

He said the goal was to reach 200 subscribers, but this was a target he'd like to see smashed.

Despite being staffed by volunteers, he said the station broadcasted all day, every day, with the help of about 30 presenters and active members.

Subscription costs $10 concession, $20 for individuals or $50 for a family.

Subscribe during Show Us Your TLC week and be eligible for daily prize draws, plus the major prize draw.

The subscription drive will end with a party on Saturday, November 2, with a live broadcast from YHA Block Bar in Yamba.

Subscribe online at www.showusyourtlc.com and use the secure online payment channel, or pay at Spar Yamba.
