WHEN long-time Maclean Show secretary Dawn Stewart needed someone who "knew horses" to organise the horses for the show, Coral Sutherland was only too happy to help out.

"Fifteen or so" shows later, her efforts have been recognised with life membership of the Maclean Show Society.

"It's quite an honour," MsSutherland said.

"But it's a lovely thing to have all your hard work recognised."

Ms Sutherland said she thought the local shows were an important part of the tradition of a country town and hoped her contribution allowed it tocontinue for the youngergenerations.

"It teaches them so much responsibility and gives them a sense of pride and somewhere to show off," shesaid.

Despite the recognition, Ms Sutherland said she'd happily start the planning for a next show soon.

"Maybe I'll have a sleep-in tomorrow though," she said.
