Showgirl is glad she stepped up

WHEN Miranda Predo heard her name called in the main arena at the 144th Grafton Agricultural Show, the look on her face was nothing short of amazement.

The show’s guest of honour, Des Harvey, broke the seal on the envelope that contained the name of the 2010 Grafton Showgirl, and Miranda never expected it to be hers.

“I nominated pretty late in the piece and could not attend one of the showgirl events because of family matters so I did not expect to take home the sash at all,” she said.

“I am a little overwhelmed right now,” she said.

“It is a huge honour and I am very proud to accept the title, especially because last year’s showgirl, Samantha Dive, is one of my close friends.”

Early next year Miranda will travel to Lismore to the zone finals of the showgirl competition.

The winner from the zone finals then travels to the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the grand final against entrants from throughout New South Wales.
