Showgirl title in Laura’s sights

NINETEEN year old Laura Towell has put her hand up for this year’s Maclean showgirl.

After graduating from MacLean High last year, Laura has set her sights on finishing her veterinary course which she does through distance education while working at the Yamba Bowling Club.

As part of Laura’s course she also volunteers her time at the MacLean Veterinary clinic where her boss nominated her to be showgirl.

“I was at the vet clinic and my boss said I should do it, I had always thought about doing it when I was younger so I jumped at the chance,” she said.

Laura is entering the competition for the experience and the opportunity to meet new people.

“I would like to get more involved in community events and get to know allot more people.”

Growing up riding horses in Lawrence, Laura knows all about the country lifestyle.

She misses not being able to go horse riding as much anymore but hopes to get back into it.

“I used to ride all the time in Lawrence but I don’t often get the chance anymore.”

Now living in Yamba she loves to spend time at the beach when the weather is right.
