Singer Kelsie's now seeing stars

RUBBING shoulders with Keith Urban, Seal, Joel Madden and Delta Goodrem is all in a day's work for Kelsie Rimmer.

The 20-year-old Palmwoods singer-songwriter is a competitor in the Australian version of the musical talent search, The Voice.

Kelsie, who sang My Immortal by Evanescence for her audition, said being a part of the show was an incredible experience.

She said regardless of how far she got in the show and the exposure generated from it, she would continue to sing and write music.

"This show is all about encouraging musicians to learn about themselves and find their voice," Kelsie said.

Kelsie said she entered the competition on a whim, after friends told her she should audition.

"I was curious whether I was good enough," she said.

Kelsie said a lot of the contestants found the blind auditions to be daunting, but she thought it was the ideal situation to help ease her nerves.

"With the judges facing the opposite direction to me, I had control of the stage, it was a relief," she said.

She said her musical style was folk-acoustic-pop, and her role models were Matt Corby, Josh Pyke, Nora Jones and Sarah McLachlan.

"I don't write for the sake of writing," Kelsie said.

"My songs are a time capsule and outlet for my emotions."

Kelsie has released an EP called Lost in the Woods, which can be purchased via her website, www.kelsierimmer.com.
