Local musician running free song writing workshop for youth

CLARENCE Valley based singer-songwriter Siobhan Corcoran will run a free song writing workshop on Saturday, September 5, as part of Clarence Valley Youth's Out of the Box program.

Siobhan is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who regularly performs her music in the eastern states.

Now she is eager to share her tricks of the trade with you.

Mayor Richie Williamson said the workshop provided a great opportunity for would-be song writers to learn skills in lyric writing, finding melodies, choosing chords and creating grooves and hooks.

"An opportunity to sit with someone who has the skills of Siobhan is a great stepping stone for young people in the Clarence," he said.

No prior experience is necessary to take part in this interactive workshop that will lead participants through the process of writing their own song.

Those with instruments are encouraged to bring them.
