Jacaranda Fun Run records tumble

RECORDS tumbled despite the hot conditions at the Jacaranda Fun Run on Sunday.

Both the male and female records were broken in the 2km event - Joel Chevalley in 6 minutes 25 seconds for the men, while 11-year-old Tara Everson ran an incredible 7 minutes 11 sec

onds for the women.

Meanwhile, Yamba's Lindsay Wall took out the prestigious 10km in style, blitzing the field in 34 minutes flat.

In fact, spectators had to wait more than four minutes for the next competitor - Coffs Harbour's Luke Tarrant (38.24).

Wall recently finished 10th in the Port Macquarie Ironman and was happy with his record-breaking effort at his first attempt.

"I do long-distance triathlons so this was integrated into my training and was my first race since Port Macquarie," he said.

Beth Hickey, 15, from Maclean was first female home in the 5km in 19 minutes 11 seconds.
