Ski series gets a push from Stout
THE Big River Ski Club will look to put the disappointment of cancelling the Bridge to Bridge behind them next weekend when they conduct Round 1 of the 2010/11 Ski Racing Series.
The weekend of racing, to be held at the Big River Ski Lodge will be headlined by a Junior Development Camp hosted on Saturday morning by twice world champion Chris Stout.
Stout currently races behind top national boat, Blazen, and has been a regular competitor at Grafton in the past.
He is keen to help promote the sport and aid the development of junior skiers both on and off the water.
A major focus of the weekend is encouraging new-comers to try their hand at ski racing.
A Novice class will be included in the program for beginner skiers as well as a Junior / Expert division where new competitors will be paired with experienced skiers to put into practice the skills learnt on Saturday morning.
Costs will be kept to a minimum with new boats and skiers able to join and compete for as little as $20.
As many as 10 locally based boats are expected to compete against boats from Northern NSW and South-East Queensland in a range of divisions catering from under-10s to Masters.
The racing will provide local skiers with some much needed time on the water, with many beginning preparations for the Hawkesbury Bridge to Bridge in November.
Racing will commence at 1pm Saturday and 9am Sunday at the Big River Ski Lodge at Seelands.
Anybody wishing to find out more information on how to get involved should contact Jason Disson at Disco Marine, 6643 1199.
