Smyths outclass DEX

THE Grafton A grade netball game of the round was between City DEX and City Smyths.

Smyths started strongly with the attacking duo of Heidi Dalton feeding the ball into the circle to Carol Simmons finish the play.

The DEX fill-in defence of Shelby Ditton fought hard to keep the Smyths shots from finding the ring, but was unable to stem the flow.

The score at the end of the first quarter was 13/8 to Smyths.

Smyths came out even stronger in the second quarter and managed to score a few quick goals early in the period.

Although DEX Shooter Laura Tuite did not squander any of the opportunities given to her when the ball was sent her way, but the Smyths defence of Ebony Simmons and Kallie Murphy strived hard to lessen her chances.

The score at half time with Smyths leading was 30/13.

Positional attacking play by Smyths kept the pressure up on the DEX defence and ensured DEX paid for any mistakes they made.

Smyths really dominated the quarter only conceding two goals to DEX. The score at the end of third quarter was 41/15.

DEX player Sharna Bennett tried hard to get her team back into the game with some inspirational play, but the defence of Smyths were just stronger on the day. The final Score was 54/21 to the City Smyths.
