Boy, 8, bitten by black, slimy snake while water skiing

AN eight-year old boy is recovering after being bitten by what is believed to have been a black snake at Coraki on Saturday afternoon.

The boy was water skiing with his family at about 2.30pm in the afternoon when the snake bite happened in the northen NSW town.

"He only saw it after it had bitten him," his father Aaron Worboy said.

It was fortunate that a nurse was on hand to help with first aid before the ambulance came and took him to Lismore Base Hospital, he said.

At first Tyler Worboy was OK, but began vomiting and became "very crook" when he was at the hospital.

This was just before receiving an anti-venom from doctors, Mr Worboy said.

The boy described the snake as being black and slimy, he said.

By Sunday morning the boy was feeling much better and he left hospital on Sunday afternoon.

The boy was given an anti-venom that is used to treat bites from Red belly Black, King Brown and Tiger snakes.
