Jacaranda gardens ready to bloom
SOMETIMES it only takes one flower to change your mood completely.
So imagine what an entire garden can do for the mind, body and soul.
Annette Baker is well aware of the beauty of a garden, and she wants to share hers with you.
From October 26 to November 3, Mrs Baker will have her gates open for the Jacaranda Festival Open Garden Display.
She said her garden was "mixed, with a tropical theme".
"It's a very young garden and we're trying to achieve colour through foliage rather than flowers," Mrs Baker said.
Seeing as the garden is only three years old, Mrs Baker said she had to do some temporary planting to be ready for the festival.
"We've put in about 3500 annuals - short-lived plants that flower for the season and then die," she said.
"This will give us lots of colour, but long term we want to achieve the colour through foliage because it's more attractive than flowers."
Mrs Baker's Junction Hill garden is one of the many properties that will be open for viewing during the Jacaranda Festival.
