Southern Stars aiming to put hosts to Test
ALEX Blackwell was Australia's first female player to quit her job to turn professional, and today she is poised to become the first player to make 200 appearances for her country.
Blackwell heads an Aussie top-order chock full of talent, and in with a great chance of beating England in the only Test of the Ashes series, starting tonight at Canterbury.
The genetic counsellor, who top-scored with 115 in last week's warm-up match against an England Academy XI, said a win in the Test would put Australia in the box seat to win the Ashes ahead of the three T20s later this month.
"If we can put pressure on England and win this match, it creates a hard job for them going into the T20s," Blackwell said.
The Southern Stars lead the series four points to two after winning the three-game ODI series 2-1.
The winner of the Test will earn four points, with the T20s each worth two points.
