Special effort at Rosehill
BLACKBOARD Special will line up in the $85,000 Ken Callander Fellowship Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
Grafton trainer Wayne Lawson had his star three-year-old prepared for a start at the track three weeks ago but opted not to pay the second-round nomination fee for fear of missing the cut. He instead sent Blackboard Special to Eagle Farm where he finished third.
This time Lawson kept the promising gelding in the frame and his faith was rewarded with the final acceptance.
To be ridden by Ric McMahon, Blackboard Special will carry 54kg.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained Rockford (58.5kg) is topweight.
