Speed zones now simplified

COMMUTING from Urunga to Coffs Harbour is about to become simpler.

As part of a NSW Government initiative to rationalise speed zones across the state, the entire stretch of the Pacific Highway from Urunga to Lyons Road at Boambee will carry the one speed limit – 110km/h.

Deputy Premier and Oxley MP Andrew Stoner said the change followed a review into “annoying” speed zone changes.

“As part of that, we asked the RTA to look at six key stretches along the Pacific Highway where speed zones changed frequently or were raised as community concerns,” he said.

“This is another way we are looking to remove frustration for motorists.

"This is not about whether speed limits will be increased or decreased, this is about ensuring safety of road users is paramount.”

Also set to change is the speed limit through Urunga itself, with the existing 80 km/h zone to be extended by one kilometre.
