Speeder fined in court

A QUEENSLAND man detected speeding at 142kmh on the Pacific Highway at Halfway Creek on January 12 has been fined a total of $3750 despite failing to appear in Grafton Local Court yesterday.

The court also issued warrants for the arrest of Anthony Robert Hawkins, 21, of Kings Beach, who did not attend court, for two property matters.

Hawkins was convicted of speeding, driving disqualified, driving unregistered, driving an uninsured vehicle, displaying unauthorised number plates and giving a false name.

He has also been charged with larceny and receiving stolen property.
