Spit spat lands TV contestant in court

A FORMER Australia's Got Talent contestant accused of spitting on a Brisbane hairdresser intends to fight an assault charge in court.

Anne Elizabeth Ferguson-Howe faced one charge of common assault in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

The 51-year-old stand-up comedian from Thornlands, on Brisbane's bayside, did not enter a plea but told reporters outside court she intended to dispute the facts of the case.

"I don't spit, I swallow," she said.

It is alleged the mother-of-two spat at prominent Brisbane hairdresser Carole Haddad, after she was asked to pay extra on her bill on August 26 this year. No details of the offence were read out in court.
