Bird flu: Another Roosters star gets the mumps

SYDNEY Roosters fans will have to wait at least another week to see star recruit James Tedesco in the Tricolours after he was quarantined by the club due to a case of mumps.

NRL.com reports the NSW Origin fullback has been housebound this week after catching the contagious viaral disease that was first contracted by veteran teammate Mitchell Aubusson earlier this month.

Tedesco has been ruled out of the Roosters' trial match against the Panthers this Saturday and now faces a race against the clock to take his place in the side to play Manly at Central Coast Stadium next week.

NRL.com's report quotes a Roosters spokesperson, who confirmed Tedesco had been placed in isolation, while Aubusson has returned to training after getting over the virus.

"James has been isolated as he receives the necessary course of treatment and will rejoin his teammates next week," the club spokesperson said.

Trent Robinson will name his squad for Saturday's hitout against Penrith on Thursday morning, with their opponents including a star recruit of their own, James Maloney, in a strong side.
