Gilmore's attacker on more charges
A MAN who allegedly assaulted four-time world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore was yesterday charged with a number of additional and unrelated offences.
Julius Sterling Guy Fox has been accused of assaulting Ms Gilmore, 22, outside her Tweed Heads unit on December 27.
Police allege Mr Fox, 26, hit Ms Gilmore with a metal bar, injuring her wrist and wounding her head.
Mr Fox did not make an application for bail yesterday in Lismore Local Court and was not present when his case was mentioned.
Mr Fox, 26, remains in custody and has been charged with three offences in relation to the assault, including wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
In unrelated matters he is also charged with breaching his bond, behaving in an offensive manner in front of a school, and custody of a knife in a public place. Magistrate R. Denes adjourned the case for mention at Lismore Local Court on April 5.
Police recommended Mr Fox be refused bail because of the violent nature of his offences.
