Stevens pulls up stumps

WITH the NRRRL season due to commence this weekend the Ghosts have suffered a blow with the news star second-rower Grant Stevens is leaving the club.

Stevens, who is regarded as one of the best back-rowers in the Northern Rivers, has signed with the Woolgoolga Seahorses for 2011.

Although disappointed in losing Stevens, first grade coach Col Speed remained positive after receiving the news during the week.

“Stumpy's leaving for personal reasons. He's given great service to the Ghosts for the past few seasons,” Speed said.

“The timing of his departure is not brilliant but on the bright side it's a chance for other players to step up.”
