Still no trace of missing 88-year-old man

POLICE have carried out two more searches for missing Iluka man Gerardus Bakkenhoven, but have so far no leads.

The 88-year-old man, who is believed to be somewhat of a recluse, was last seen outside his Charles St unit on Thursday August 7.

He was reported missing on Saturday by concerned neighbours.

Police searched the Iluka area, including walking trails, beaches and streets, without any success.

Mr Bakkenhoven is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 160-165cm tall, with a slim build, and bald with grey hair around the side and back of his head.

Officers hold concerns for Mr Bakkenhoven as he disappeared without his wallet, personal identification, and unit keys.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to come forward.
