Stolen car slams into mum and daughter

SARAH Feeney is thanking her lucky stars she and her eight-year-old daughter are okay after a high-speed collision with a stolen car at Corindi Beach.

The South Grafton mum was driving home on the Pacific Hwy at about 7.15pm on Sunday when she saw a white car approaching from the opposite direction, halfway in her lane.

"I wish I had somewhere to swerve away from him but there was nowhere," Ms Feeney said.

"I moved over as much as I could, but he hit my front driver's side."

The high-speed collision at the Corindi Creek bridge sent her new car spinning across the road and into the guardrail, activating the airbags and sending up a cloud of smoke.

"I know I spun around a few times I just don't know how many," she said.

"It was pretty lucky that the guardrail was there. I'm just glad (my daughter) came out unscathed."

The occupants of the other car fled on foot before police arrived.

Coffs/Clarence crime manager Detective Inspector Darren Jameson said the white car involved was stolen from Halfway Creek prior to the accident, and said investigations were ongoing in regards to two men who were seen leaving the scene on foot, heading south along the highway.

Both men have been described as between 20-30 years old.

The first has a beard and was wearing a white shirt, a dark backpack, a red cap and ¾ pants at the time.

The other male also had facial hair and was wearing a black singlet.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
