Stoner wants Phillip Island finish

INJURY may not have robbed Australian fans of giving MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner a fairytale send-off.

Stoner, who will retire from MotoGP at the end of the season, is determined to be back on his bike after ankle surgery in time for his home grand prix at Phillip Island on October 28.

He is eager to bow out of the sport with a sixth successive victory at the venue.
