Ron Bell is hanging up the mic. Story in Saturday's DEX. Jojo Newby

YOU could safely say Ron Bell is the voice of the Clarence having delivered his distinctive tones across the airwaves at radio 2GF on and off since he first arrived in Grafton in 1968.

Ron recently hung up his microphone after many years of informing and entertaining generations of listeners. Ron sat down with Lesley Apps of the Daily Examiner this week to revisit a colourful career that has spanned more than five decades. He also shared what he has planned next - and talks about the occasion he outshone Golden Tonsils himself, John Laws. Read Ron's story in Saturday's The Daily Examiner.
